One Class Down and 7 to go

Chris is glad to be done with his advanced web design class (DHTML, XML, AJAX, HTML, XHTML, etc.). Chris was getting a 100% leading up to the final exam which is worth 41 out of 100 point. A very drooling test, but it was nice to have had the answers given to the class by the professor the week before the test. We will let you all know how he has done next week once he has his final grade for the class.

Scary Recess Moment

Katina had an interesting thing happen at work today. She was out at recess duty. She normally hates to have duty, but with the weather really nice it isn't too bad. She was standing about 10 feet away from the tetherball pole and was talking to some of the her students. One of those students started to swing on the chain and the whole pole fell over! It landed about 3 feet in front of Katina. She thought she was going to die. The student was okay and laughing about the whole thing. They ended up taking the pole out and and hammering the metal that was sticking out of the hole in the cement. What a crazy thing to have happen!

Wish Katina luck on Thursday. The teacher she is subbing for is going to be absent and the sub covering for her has to be gone for an hour. Katina is subbing for that substitute. It is her 6th grade class, so things could get very ugly. Two more days till she goes off track again!!!

Birthday dinner

It was Katina's birthday on Tuesday. Chris took her to the Roof restaurant on the top floor of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. It overlooks the temple and valley. We had a seat next to the window where we could see the details of the Salt Lake Temple. The Roof is a formal buffet style restaurant. It is quite expensive, but well worth every penny. The desserts are fabulous. They also had this fabulous tomato and archichoke soup. It you ever have a special event to celebrate and are in the SL area, I highly recommend this restaurant. I would only recommend this restaurant once a year. Otherwise you could go into debt ($36 a person).

New Calling

On Saturday Katina got a call from the executive secretary from their ward. She met with the bishop yesterday at 10:30. Katina is the new Relief Society secretary. She is excited for this calling.
Chris and Katina are trying to get used to afternoon church. This year they have church from 1-4. Uhgg!

How do some people get a drivers license?

When Katina was on her way home from work today (work today was in itself a long story), she had the rudest guy hit her car. It was snowing a whole bunch when I left. I was debating about either taking the freeway (my usual route) or another main road. I decided on the freeway. As I took my exit to get on the freeway, there was a car that had slid on the ice, went backwards, hit a cement barrier, and almost went over the bridge. People had stopped to see if they could help push him. The car ahead of my got very impatient and started to back up toward my car! I honked at him. He then pulled forward, turned his wheels, and started to back up so that he was backing up along the side of me. I knew he was going to hit my car, so I honked at him. His side mirror hit my side mirror, but didn't knock it off. As he went by he flipped me off! All the time he had a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. Seriously, how did that moron get a license to drive?

A movie recommendation

Yesterday we went to a wonderful movie. Valkarie is the true story of a group of German soldiers who try to assasinate Adolf Hitler. As a bonus, it also stars Tom Cruise in all his greatness. It is rated PG-13 and done very tastefully. I would recommend this movie to anyone.
This was our only big New Year's plan. We did stay up till midnight on Wednesday to watch the ball drop. We were not big party animals this year.
