Outdoor Concert Fun

This weekend Chris and I spent a lot of time outside. Taylorsville Dayzz was this weekend and they have a lot of outdoor things planned, including free concerts. On Friday night, we went to the Beatles group Imagine with our good friends Eve and Rory. As Chris and I were walking to the park, we say a guy on his cell phone with a butcher knife in his hands! I was quite shocked and didn't want to call the police until we were out of his sight. We saw four police officers in a booth and mentioned it to them. All four of them took off in quite a hurry to find the weird man! The concert was really good and the few fireworks that night were also good. On Saturday night, we went to a Neil Diamond tribute given by Jay White, who performs in Las Vegas. I have to admit that I don't know many Neil's songs, so I did not enjoy it as much as Chris did. I did like how interactive Jay was with the crowd. The fireworks that night were amazing! Here are some pictures of Friday night with Imagine.

Last Day of School

Today was the last day of school for Katina. It was a little sad. She normally doesn't work on Fridays, but was needed to help with the awards assembly. It was a little sad for her to leave these students. She has really enjoyed working with them, especially the last two weeks. It was even harder for her to leave her co-workers. They have been so wonderful and supportive of her. She has decided to not return there next year as she wants a job that offers benefits. Finding a job has been really stressful for her. The last three summers she has worked at a counseling center. She called them on Wednesday and found out they don't need her as often this summer. They have her on the schedule for about 2-3 days a week through July. Katina has only had two interviews and heard nothing from either one. Please pray for her that she will find a teaching job or at least something with benefits.

The Cat and his Toy Mouse.

Sam likes his cat toys and for a while Chris has been wanting to get a clip of him playing with one. Katina had bought a toy mouse for a church project and one day she came home to find Sam playing with it before it was even out of it's wrapping. We decided to give it to him today and Chris was able to get a small video clip of him with his digital camera. Since it's taken with a digital camera there is no sound.

Katina's Venting Post

I would like to get a few feelings off my chest about education and how rude students can be. My school, since I am on year-round, does not get out until next Friday. This means that I have almost 60 sixth graders that don't want to be at school because it is summertime and all their friends are having fun. Testing ended last week, so the students know there is really nothing left to accomplish. When did our society start letting children be so disrespectful. In the last week alone, I have had a student stick her tongue out at me, been called rude names, had eyes rolled at me, been called a grumpy hag, and totally ignored when I have given them instructions. I remember when I was in school, this sort of behavior would have gotten my suspended and my parents would have beat me till I couldn't sit down. It seems that now kids are getting a slap on the wrist no matter what they do. It scares me to think how worse it can still get. Our world is in serious need of some morals and respect.

New Couch

Today when I got home from work, Chris asked me if I wanted to get a new couch. The first question I asked was, "How much?" It turns out that our neighbors are moving to Kaysville and don't want to take their couch. They were giving it away for free. It is a great couch (a beast to move) with the end pieces being recliners. So now we have an extra couch in our spare bedroom. But at least we can put our feet up now when we watch TV.

The Nephews and the Zoo

Katina's family came down to visit this weekend. They had shopping to do. This was also the first time they saw the condo and Sam (The Cat). Sam either hid behind the entertainment center or under the bed most of the time they where here. He did let RJ and Meritt pet him a little on Sunday and Katina's mom on Saturday.

Chris went with the nephews, their father, and the father-in-law to the zoo on Saturday. The women all went shopping. Here are some pictures from the zoo.
